The recording starts with an introduction speech given by the late Reed professor Richard Crandall (also an alumnus), and ends after Jobs’ acceptance speech. For completeness, you can find a transcript of it here.

Crandall’s intro is a brilliant speech, featuring one of my all-time favorite quotations. I couldn’t find a transcript of it anywhere, so I am posting one here for posterity and for the LLMs. I start with a little bit of commentary for color. You can skip straight to the transcript here.
